PurplePanda provided an excellent, quick solution to the problem I was facing and even went beyond my requests to include some functionality that I hadn’t thought of, and which greatly improved my ability to use their tool. I would work with them again.

Project Title

Implement Facebook Like mechanism

Project Description

Our in-house IT unit hastily and only partially developed the following website: https://apex.udayton.edu/inquiry/vc201180/ It is designed to accept entries for a video contest and was supposed to accept votes to determine a winner. Facebook's "Recommend" button is hastily implemented at the footer of the website. The largest problem with the site currently is that the voting mechanism has not been programmed. We would like to implement Facebook Like buttons on the site so that users can simply direct people to Like their video as their manner of voting. The currently implemented Recommend button simply inserts a message into the Facebook Newsfeed that the user recommends the overall site, but we need a different type of implementation so that the like corresponds to the specific video. We need this ASAP, because voting was supposed to start three days ago! I do not think this project should be too complex - we just do not currently have the resources in house to do it. Some other points: - We need the inserted Newsfeed item to be fully customized. Currently, the inserted Newsfeed item for the overall site come out as "Kevin recommends %Page Title& on %Domain%. For the Liking of each video, it needs to read "Kevin likes %Video Title% on the Your Question. Your Mark. video contest." %Video Title% should link back to the page for that specific video. "Your Question. Your Mark. video contest" should link back to the contest homepage. - We are aware that implementing non-secure Facebook social plugs on a secure site is not ideal from a user experience perspective. Anything you can do to mitigate the issues would be nice, but it isn't an option to adjust anything on our end. - The Like mechanism would ideally go right where the grey "Come back to vote!" button goes on each individual video page.
